Writing about myself has never been something that I enjoy doing but you are invited into my online kitchen where I share recipes, information about Whole Foods and their Health benefits and living a healthy lifestyle.
I am a retired Executive Chef that has spent his whole life in a kitchen..It started when I was put into my first foster home. I soon learned that those that work in the kitchen get the best food. I was seven years old and l think my first love affair was with food. We have never drifted apart in all the years that followed.
I liked working with food, learning to cook as well as working with cold foods. I remained working in kitchens for the rest of my working career. I went to school to learn how to cook and I spent the last 23 years of my career as an executive chef.
If you are wondering what a chef eats when he has access to all the different foods available, I can only speak for myself. I focus on eating fresh Whole Foods, grass fed beef, free range chicken and wild caught Fish. My Plate is colorful, mostly plant-based, with a focus on whole, real ingredients that I can pronounce. While I do not have a gluten problem that requires me to live gluten-free, I’ve found that gluten and dairy-based foods don’t make my body or mind feel good, so I don’t eat them. It takes a little research but I prioritize the quality of my food and want to know where it comes from and under what conditions it was grown.
Foods becomes our fuel and our building blocks. We are what we eat and if we are to enjoy life we should eat only the best that nature has to offer. It is up to us to make wise choices. That is what this blog is about. I want to share with you what I have learned along the way as well as some great tasting recipes.
